What is chipotle sauce made of?

Chipotle sauce is typically made from chipotle peppers, which are smoked and dried jalapeño peppers, blended with various ingredients such as vinegar, spices, and sometimes sweeteners. This combination creates a flavorful and slightly spicy sauce with a distinct smoky taste. You can view a sample recipe by Eating Well here.

Speaking of smoky, you might also like my Smoky BBQ Aioli / Mayonnaise or my Smoked Paprika Aioli / Mayo which is just as easy as this one!

Step-by-step Instructions

Spread Cream Cheese: Use a spoon to scoop out your cream cheese onto a plate.

Top with Sauce: Add raspberry chipotle sauce over the cream cheese.

Serve and Enjoy: Pair with crackers, crostini, or fruits like apples for a tasty snack, or use as a breakfast bread spread. Easy, delicious, and perfect for any occasion!

Jazzing This Up

Garnish: Sprinkle some crushed nuts or seeds on top.

Serve with a Variety: Offer an assortment of dippers such as sliced vegetables, fruits, crackers, pretzels, or toasted bread to cater to different preferences and dietary needs.

Vary Your Presentation: Instead of adding the raspberry chipotle sauce on top of the cream cheese, you might want to just mix it together. You can also use this as a sandwich filling, similar like in my vegan afternoon tea sandwiches!

Add Some Black Beans: For a more filling option, sauté some red onion with a bit of olive oil. Then add some black beans with salt and pepper. Add this as the base layer, before scooping your cream cheese and raspberry chipotle sauce on top. Enjoy your raspberry chipotle black bean dip!

FAQ

Chipotle sauce is spicy because it contains chipotle peppers, which are smoked and dried jalapeño peppers known for their heat. These peppers pack a punch and add a fiery kick to the sauce, making it spicy and flavorful.

Yes, feel free to do that if you don’t eat vegan!

I do not recommend this but if you’re experience in cooking, feel free to try substituting the raspberry with raspberry preserves. Note that I cannot guarantee a successful recipe this way.

Raspberry preserves tend to contain a lot of sugar, so you might need to add some vinegar to balance it out. Also add a couple tablespoons of water to thin it out. Please refer to this Chipotle Raspberry Sauce recipe as you do this.

If you can’t find raspberry chipotle sauce, you can try making a homemade version using this Raspberry Chipotle Jam / Jelly recipe. Alternatively, you can use a different fruity and spicy sauce such as mango habanero sauce.

Absolutely! Assembling it takes a maximum of 2 minutes so as long as you’ve got your cream cheese and raspberry chipotle sauce ready, you’re set.

If you’d like to save those 2 minutes on the day of the party, you can mix the cream cheese with the raspberry chipotle sauce until they turn light pink in color.

I do not recommend freezing this chipotle cream cheese dip since it will change the texture.

Didn’t think of this combo before. The raspberry sauce itself can be quite sharp but when paired with cream cheese, it’s so good.
