This tortilla garlic bread wrap is a mouthwatering side/appetizer, made in the air fryer or oven. It’s so versatile and can be paired with all dishes!
Why You Will Love Tortilla Garlic Bread
Ingredients
- Garlic: Adds a rich, aromatic flavor, essential for that classic garlic bread taste.
- Olive Oil: A healthier base for our garlic bread, substituting the regular garlic butter.
- Italian Seasoning: A blend of herbs that packs antioxidants and flavor.
- You can sub this with (a mix of) parsley, thyme, basil, oregano, or any other Italian herbs you enjoy.
- Salt: Enhances all the other flavors with just a pinch.
- Whole Wheat Tortilla: A healthier, fiber-packed wrap that forms the base of the recipe. Feel free to sub with a regular tortilla wrap, be it corn tortillas or flour tortillas!
- (Optional) Vegan Cheese: For that gooey, cheesy garlic bread. Use any of your favorite cheeses like vegan parmesan or mozzarella cheese.
- Feel free to skip it if you’d like something lighter and healthier!
Step-by-step Instructions
Mix the minced garlic, olive oil, Italian seasoning, and salt in a small bowl.
Spread the garlic mixture onto two tortillas using a pastry brush.
If using the cheese, sprinkle them on top of each tortilla.
Stack the tortilla together with the cheese/garlic side up.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes (either directly on top of the air fryer basket, or with the basket lined with baking paper), or in the oven for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
Slice into 6-8 triangles each, and enjoy your homemade garlic tortilla bread!
Top Tips
- Keep an eye on the bake time: Oven and air fryer times can vary, so check early (so at the 3 minute mark for air fryer, and 10 minute mark for the oven) to avoid burning.
- Remember that you can always cook something a bit longer, but you cannot reverse a burnt dish!
- Serve immediately: Enjoy your garlic tortilla bread fresh out of the oven while it’s still warm and crispy!
- Experiment with add-ins: Feel free to sprinkle in some red pepper flakes, freshly cracked black pepper, or more (fresh) herbs to customize this garlic wrap.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this in any way you would serve your garlic bread! So with pasta (like my tandoori pasta, or my 3-ingredient mac and cheese), with soups and stews (like my olive soup), with grilled veggies (like my tandoori veggie platter).
As always, you can also just serve this air fryer tortilla garlic bread as is, or perhaps dip them in marinara sauce for a light pizza-like snack! Or go for a simpler dip like my smoked paprika aioli, lemon and herb mayo, or black pepper aioli.
Jazz Up This Garlic Wrap
If you’d like to make this a meal, you can add some (roasted) vegetables to make the viral TikTok air fryer tortilla pizza!
You can also make a single-layer garlic tortilla instead of doubling it up. This will make the air fryer garlic bread crunchier which is also delicious!
Storage and Freezing Instructions
Storage: Store leftover garlic bread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat the garlic tortilla in the oven or air fryer before serving to get the crisp back.
Freezing: Freeze assembled (but unbaked) garlic tortillas for up to 2 months. Before serving, bake directly from frozen, adding an extra minute or two to the cooking time. I recommend skipping the cheese if you’re planning to freeze this garlic wrap since not all cheese freezes well (although most vegan cheese freezes well so that’s nice!).
